Seven Eagles Leadership
Welcome to Seven Eagles Development Corporation. We are dedicated to responsible natural resource development in partnership with the Sahtu communities of the Northwest Territories.
Great Bear Lake
Great Bear Lake is the 4th largest lake in North America, and the 10th largest in the world. The name likely originated from Alexander Mackenzie translating the Slavey word for “grizzly bear” (Sahtu) as “great bear”. The fast-running waters at the meeting of Great Bear Lake and Great Bear River kept the surface from freezing, enabling year-round fishing – a practise that dates back at least 6,000 years – and for which the nearby settlement of Deline (“where the water flows”) is named.
